Leveling casters for a Mini Max MM16 16″ Bandsaw

October 23, 2007 – 6:46 am

I would like to give a speical thanks to Chuck for these photos after he installed our LV-1710-NYP-S-M12 casters on his Mini Max MM16 16″ Bandsaw.  Our LV-1710-NYP-S-M12 casters have a built in stabilizer leg that help absorb vibrations and shock.

These casters hold 220 lbs per caster in motion (when on the wheels and rolling around) and hold 550 lbs per caster when the stabilizer legs are down.

You can check these casters out at this link.  http://www.greatlakescaster.com/proddetail.php?prod=LV-1710-NYP-S-M12

Please keep e-mailing (info@greatlakescaster.com) us your photos and descriptions of your projects and I will keep posting them.

Thanks,
Jason

  2. This is a very interesting caster. I can’t see how you raise and lower them, however.

  3. Please market these to the big box retailers so they are readily available.

Someone at Great Lakes should spend some time marketing to the tool sales outlets, Rockler, Woodcraft, etc.

  4. Looks like a great idea but extremely unclear how stabilized level is activated/deactivated, does it need seperate tools?

  5. Does anyone know if these would work on the FS30 jointer planer as well?

  6. Do you know if these casters will fit the thread on a Laguna LT24x17 bandsaw? Is anything additional required?

  7. I replaced the casters on my computer chair with 5 new TWHN-50U-G20-BK 50mm Urethane Twin Wheel Hooded Caster with 7/16″ x 7/8″ Grip Ring Stem
They work better then new, the delivery was prompt, correct and at a good price.

I have ordered from Great Lakes Caster’s before and will in the future. A reliable product and a reliable company.

  8. The local woodturners club put these on a Powermatic 3520B lathe. I have not had a chance to look at them and figure how to raise and lower them but would like to get a pair to put on my own lathe to raise it up 3″ to 4″.

  9. Yeah, like the other guys said: it’s impossible to gauge how hard it is to turn that stabilizing mount adjustment wheel. Confusing.

  10. These look very useful and reasonably priced. But product detail is missing from the site–dimensions, how the “stabilizer” is raised and lowered, etc. This may keep me from ordering….
